HART Happy Tails!
We usually get letters and e-mails from adopters to tell us how well they and
their new family member are doing. We love to hear these success stories
and read and see for ourselves the impact that these wonderful animals have on
their new owners and vice versa.
If you have your own Happy Tail you'd like to share, please send a paragraph or
two (and a recent picture if you can!) to
happytails@hartoftexas.org!
Below are some of the more recent Happy Tails we've received. Check back
for updates!

Lila
We adopted Lila in February from HART. She was a little scared at first of our
dog, but has now warmed up a little to her. She would hiss and swat her on the
nose with her paws. She now will allow Amara, my dog, to lick her, but it
doesn't last very long. We just got Lila a cat tree. She was timid at first, but
now likes to go up and sit. Thank You all for allowing us to adopt Lila. She is
a joy and has now become a part of our family. |

| Tess
Tess
has made great friends with our Bearded Collie, Peggy. Tess became one of our
family the very first day we got her. It was an instant connection. We just love
her. Thank you so much for allowing us to adopt Tess.

| Biddy
Just wanted to drop you a quick note to let you know how much we are
enjoying having Biddy as part of the family. She has been so outgoing and
happy. She and Mawua have become fast friends - playing non-stop and having a ball. She
has a voracious appetite and an equally voracious curiosity. We are working
through potty training issues right now, but feel confident that we will be
turning a corner soon. We cannot thank you and HART enough for providing us this
opportunity.

| Mason (Toby)
I thought you would like to see the pictures of Mason (Toby) and our shepherd
Duchess. The two bigger dogs have really taken to him even though he jumps
around them like a flea. He runs full speed with them in chase...he's a fast
little guy. He has managed the art of manipulating the bone from Duchess,
which the 100 pound shepherd male can’t do.
The cat gave him a full swing whack on the head the first day and that got his
attention and up until yesterday, the cat was boss. Now that he is more
comfortable, he is running and yipping after her...but she is realizing it is
more fun to play than to run away.
He sleeps with my husband and I every night. In fact, we would find him with
his head on Jeff’s pillow right between us. Now he just wakes me every morning
by jumping on me yapping and wrestling my hands. Nice way to wake up...being
nipped and yapped to death! I honestly feel I have a full time baby again...oh
yeah, I do.
The kids all love him fiercely...its all he can do to get naptime, between
chasing the other animals and the kids...he's not lacking for attention!
Thank you so much for taking care of him...it truly shows the care that you
showed him in his disposition...

| Jenny
We kept the name Jenny, it's too cute not to.
Both of our dogs, Abby and Brooklyn, are very nice to her. I think we took 20
pictures when we got home :) This morning I had to hear from my mom about what
a wonderful little girl she has that slept all night and didn't have an
accident.
Thanks so much for making my mom so happy!

| Rosie
(Clara Belle)
Here is a recent picture of Rosie / Clara Belle. We have had so much fun with
her! She is a wonderful dog! Thank you so much for taking care of the dogs you
rescue. We took her to the vet a month after we adopted her and she had gained
12 pounds.
The vet said she would continue to grow until about 16 months, but is in her
slowing down stages. We got her some heartworm medicine and everything seems
to be going great. The vet said everything looks good.

| Bo
(Domino)
Domino’s name has been changed to Bo. Bo is getting along with Patches and the
whole family. They chase the dogs behind us, chase squirrels, and explore
together. Everything Patches does, little Bo does. Bo is very skittish around
my husband but seems to be coming around. Bo will lay on our bed, with the
other dog, while my husband is sitting on it. We have a park near our home and
Bo really likes walking in the neighborhood and through the park.

| Morgan
My husband and I adopted Morgan from HART in April of 2000. Chris and I had
just moved to Texas about two weeks prior and needed to pick up some dog food.
Thinking we would make a quick trip, we ran to the local PetSmart. Fortunately
for us, HART was having an adoption day, and we saw the cutest yellow puppy
lying in a crate with a rawhide bone longer than she was. We took her home to
two sisters, who weren't exactly sure what to make of her. Although she grew
to be a little larger than we had expected (110 lean pounds!) she has turned
out to be QUITE entertaining. She is extremely clever, often barking out a
window to distract her sisters so that she can steal their toys. She is the
sweetest dog and loves to give (and get) hugs. She is also very spoiled, as
you can see from the attached pictures. In the last few years we moved to Park
City, UT, where we have a big yard so that Morgan can run and play with her
sisters. She loves the snow and enjoys hiking in the mountains of Utah.
(Oddly, she is also an avid swimmer often refusing to get out of the water).
We are so happy that we were able to make Morgan a part of our family and want
to thank you for the extraordinary job that you do!

| Heidi
I just can't thank yall enough for allowing us to be the proud owners of her
and making her a part of our family. She is so wonderful, you can't ever be in
a bad/sad mood when she's around which is not a bad thing at all. Heidi has
learned to play Frisbee now and she still has the little bear you sent with
her. She has lots of new doggy friends of all types and loves all the walks
she gets to go on. All my friends love her and she is definitely taking full
advantage of that. She sleeps in my room every night and she is such a bed
hog, but it's okay I don't mind. Heidi and Michael (the cat) are getting along
great. They are always playing together. Michael even sits around with his
tongue out of his mouth like Heidi now, that's a funny sight! I just wanted to
thank you SOOO much for allowing me to become the owner of Heidi she means so
much to me and I love having her to come home to every single day.
